Monday, June 14th, 2010The JISC/CNI Meeting 2010 planned by JISC and the Coalition for Networked Information (CNI) will take place over 1-2 July 2010 and will be held at the Barcelo Carlton Hotel, Edinburgh. The conference will be organised by UKOLN and will bring together experts from the United States, Europe and the United Kingdom. The conference theme this year is Managing Data in Difficult Times: policies, strategies, technologies and infrastructure to manage research and teaching data in a fast changing technological and economic environment. Topics for sessions include Cloud Computing, Innovation in Learning and Teaching, Open Data Policies, Shared Services, Repositories, Digital Content and Institutional Planning, Resource Discovery, Digital Preservation and e-Science. IDCC10 Programme Now Available
Tuesday, June 8th, 2010The Digital Curation Centre (DCC) has recently published the draft programme for the 6th International Digital Curation Conference (IDCC10)to be held over 6 – 8 December 2010 at the Chicago Mart Plaza, Chicago, USA. The theme of the Conference this year will be Participation and Practice: Growing the Curation Community through the Data Decade. The Conference will be presented jointly by the Digital Curation Centre, UK and the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and in partnership with the Coalition for Networked Information (CNI). The first day of the conference will look at how data curation practices are evolving and spreading throughout the disciplines and what institutional structures and communities are needed to help support these developments. On the second day papers will be presented in two tracks of themed parallel sessions: a Research Track, with papers presenting research results, and a Practice Track, with papers describing experiences with tools and practices.

Thursday, May 6th, 2010Bookings are now open for Institutional Web Management Workshop 2010 to be held from Monday 12 to Wednesday 14 July 2010 at the University of Sheffield. The cost is £350 for the 3-day event. The price includes two nights ensuite accommodation, all food and materials included. You will need to choose your parallel sessions from the workshop programme and the session abstracts when booking.
Survive or Thrive: Making the most of your digital content

How best are they both to be exploited and managed? UKOLN is organising the Survive or Thrive 2010 Conference on behalf of JISC to address such issues. Wednesday, March 31st, 2010Slides are now available for Ann Chapman’s recent talk entitled The Why, What, How and When of RDA: the current state of play given to delegates from academic and public libraries at the CILIP Executive Briefing Day on Resource Description and Access (RDA) held in London on 23 March 2010 and repeated on 30 March 2010. The day focused on the need for RDA, the strategic aspects of moving to RDA and the challenges of implementation.
