The JISC/CNI Meeting 2010 planned by JISC and the Coalition for Networked Information (CNI
) will take place over 1-2 July 2010 and will be held at the Barcelo Carlton Hotel, Edinburgh. The conference will be organised by UKOLN and will bring together experts from the United States, Europe and the United Kingdom. The conference theme this year is Managing Data in Difficult Times: policies, strategies, technologies and infrastructure to manage research and teaching data in a fast changing technological and economic environment. Topics for sessions include Cloud Computing, Innovation in Learning and Teaching, Open Data Policies, Shared Services, Repositories, Digital Content and Institutional Planning, Resource Discovery, Digital Preservation and e-Science. Monday, June 14th, 2010Liz Lyon, Director of UKOLN and Associate Director, UK Digital Curation Centre, gave a presentation at the recent Survive or Thrive Workshop in Manchester, June 2010, entitled Open Science at Genome Scale. Her presentation addressed the theme of the workshop, Making the most of your digital content, by considering the recent developments in Open Science and genomic data and then by examining the new challenges of the data deluge in respect of large-scale data storage and other emerging trends.
