UKOLN’s Cultural Heritage blog was set up on 1 January 2009.  Since the ‘soft launch’ we have published introductions from the main contributors on the blog, a post about the preservation of Web resources, a look back at UKOLN events designed for the cultural heritage sector and a guest blog post from a participant at one of UKOLN’s recent blogging workshops.  The blog will provide UKOLN with an important communications channel for the cultural heritage sector, enabling us to publish articles of interest to the sector and, more importantly, to receive comments and feedback.

500 posts have been published on the UK Web Focus blog since it was launched in November 2006, an average of over 4 posts per week. The blog, which is written by Brian Kelly, provides a dissemination channel and forum for discussion and debate on a variety of Web-related issues including standards, accessibility and best practice for exploiting the potential of Web 2.0.  Last year the blog was awarded a UCISA prize as a case study for best practices in communicating with users and was short-listed for the Best educational tech support blog category of the Edublog 2008 awards.
