Representation information registries promise to make life much easier for those trying to interpret unfamiliar digital files. In his briefing paper, Alex Ball of UKOLN looks at a selection of existing file format and XML schema registries, as well as some of the more advanced registries currently being developed. This paper is one of a number of state-of-the-art reviews being written for the KIM Grand Challenge Project.

New Chair for CILIP/BL Committee on AACR

The Committee is responsible for UK input into the creation of “Resource Description and Access” (RDA), the new edition in preparation of the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (AACR).
