This sixth DCC SCARP Case Study highlights choices in how to provide for appropriate care of digital objects and options for digital curation treatment. These approaches will serve to promote more effective architectural practice and research, both now and in the future.

International Journal of Digital Curation, Issue 2, Volume 4

UKOLN has just published on behalf of the Digital Curation Centre issue 2 of Volume 4 of the International Journal of Digital Curation. In addition to 8 research papers and 6 general articles the issue also contains an exchange of letters to the Editor on the topic of archival authenticity of digital objects.

Series of Free Web 2.0 and Social Web Workshops

A one-day workshop, sponsored by the MLA, introducing Web 2.0 and the Social Web to museums, libraries and archives staff will be touring the country in the next few months. It will visit Preston, Devizes, London, Leeds and Leicester. It is free to attend but places are limited. Bookings are now open.

The Call for Papers has opened for the CILIP Cataloguing and Indexing Group (CIG) Conference to be held 13-15 September 2010 in Exeter. Proposals should be submitted by 26 February 2010. Conference organisation will be by UKOLN.

Text Mining for Scholarly Communications and Repositories Joint Workshop

UKOLN is co-hosting an open workshop with the National Centre for Text Mining NaCTeM on 28-29 October 2009. The Joint Workshop will be held at the Manchester Interdisciplinary Biocentre, University of Manchester. The Keynote presentation titled “eScience and Semantic Computing” will be given by Professor Tony Hey, Corporate Vice President, Microsoft External Research.
