SageCite Project Funded to Test a Framework for Citation of Network Models
August 6th, 2010 by lisrwSageCite, funded by JISC through the Managing Research Data Programme, will develop and test a Citation Framework of network models of disease and associated data, linking data, methods and publications. The domain of bio-informatics provides a case study, and the project builds on existing infrastructure and tools: myExperiment and the Sage Commons. Citations of complex network models of disease and associated data will be embedded in leading publications, exploring issues around the citation of data including the compound nature of datasets, description standards and identifiers. The project has international links with the Concept Web Alliance and Bio2RDF. The partners are UKOLN, the University of Manchester and the British Library (representing DataCite), with contributions from Nature Genetics and PLOS.
Real World Approaches to Accessibility

The article summarises a paper entitled Developing Countries; Developing Experiences: Approaches to Accessibility for the Real World which was awarded a prize for the best communications paper at the W4A 2010 conference held in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA in April 2010.
Andy Powell Cycles in Memory of Rachel Heery
July 26th, 2010 by lisrwStaff at UKOLN are wishing former colleague Andy Powell the best of luck on his one-man charity bike ride from Lands End to John O’Groats in memory of former Deputy Director of UKOLN Rachel Heery who died a year ago. Andy, who worked with Rachel at UKOLN for some 10 years, gives the motivation behind his 1,000-mile odyssey in his blog End to John O’Groats and invites everyone to donate. Andy’s journey began yesterday in Cornwall and he will blog, blip and tweet progress as he manages his trusty but ageing steed and a dodgy knee all the way to Scotland. Mashed Library 2010 – Chips and Mash
