Two Papers on Accessibility Presented at ADDW08

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Brian Kelly has co-authored two papers presented at the Accessible Design in the Digital World (ADDW08) Conference held in York recently. The paper “Reflections on the Development of a Holistic Approach to Web Accessibility”
described Brian”s activities over 10 years in working with David Sloan and other members of the accessibility community in the development of a holistic approach to Web accessibility. In the paper entitled “Web Accessibility 3.0: Learning from the Past, Planning for the Future” Brian
and Liddy Nevile suggested that there was a need to think afresh about the
problems of social inclusion and argued that “Accessibility 3.0″ must be
very different from the WAI WCAG 1.0 and holistic accessibility approaches
if it is ever to be effective. The presentation of this paper at ADDW08 was
videoed and is available.
