Open Infrastructures for Open Science

Wednesday, April 4th, 2012

The European Commission, in a co-ordinated effort with EU Member states, is investing in different domains of e-Infrastructures to connect researchers, scholars, educators and students through high-speed research networks, to provide access to co-operative computing platforms, to develop world-class supercomputing capacity and support the emergence of a robust platform for access to and preservation of scientific information.

In support of this initiative, a Horizon 2020 consultation event entitled Open Infrastructures for Open Science will take place in Rome over 11-12 April 2012. Its discussions will focus on e-Infrastructures and e-Science in the context of the emerging Digital European Research Area. Liz Lyon, Director of UKOLN, has been invited to take part in a panel entitled Opening science through e-infrastructures on 11 April 2012 at the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei.
