Following the launch of the New Opportunities Fund 50 million pound Digitisation Awards, UKOLN are pleased to announce the provision of their Technical Advisory Service for projects funded through the programme.

This issue features an article by David Duce discussing the World Wide Web Consortium”s Scalable Vector Graphics markup language for 2 dimensional graphics. Brian Kelly”s Web Focus column provides news from the Tenth International W3C Conference in Hong Kong.

A DNER architecture study and related material, carried out by UKOLN on behalf of the JISC, is now available.

UKOLN is now hosting the UK Collection Description Focus service. Funded by RSLP, JISC/DNER and the British Library, CD Focus will provide advice and guidance on collection description implementation, with the objective of
developing consensus in order to ensure consistency and compatibility of approaches.

UKOLN is now an Associate Member of DELOS, which provides an open context in which an international research agenda for future research
activities in the digital libraries domain can be
developed and continuously updated.
