Issue 34 has as its focus the practicalities of resource sharing – not only at a technical level, but also in terms of business models. Featured
articles include: “Sharing history of science and medicine gateway metadata using OAI-PMH”, by David Little, which outlines the resource sharing
arrangements between the MedHist gateway and the Humbul hub; “Exploring Charging Models for Digital Cultural Heritage” (Simon Tanner and Marilyn Deegan), looks at underlying financial and policy assumptions in the realm of digital capture and delivery; “Exposing information resources for e-learning” (Steve Richardson and Andy Powell), explores the Harvesting and searching of IMS metadata using both the OAI Protocol for Metadata Harvesting, and the Z39.50 Protocol.

The PORTAL project is running an online survey to evaluate user requirements from institutional portals, and is offering one lucky respondent an Amazon voucher.

The Fifth Collection Description Workshop will concentrate on user needs, incorporating experiences from a range of disciplines and domains. The workshop will explore user studies and evaluation reports in order to highlight the ways in which CLD”s can help to facilitate information disclosure and discovery.
