The DevCSI (Developer Community Supporting Innovation) Project has organised a free 2-day event in Bristol over 13-14 December 2010 in conjunction with the JISC-funded Application Profiles Support Project. This hackday event will bring together software developers, project managers and users particularly (though not exclusively) in Higher Education who share an interest in eBooks and particularly the open ePUB standard for ebooks. Friday, October 22nd, 2010An article by Val Skelton published in Information Today describes how “Users, funders and decision makers are asking tough questions about our products and services and we must be ready to respond with credible usage statistics.” The article leads with a summary of a talk entitled Monitoring and Maximising Organisational Impact given by Brian Kelly at last week’s Internet Librarian International 2010, who argued that the sector “should wholeheartedly embrace this demand for transparency by being clear and open about usage and impact.”

Further Funding for DevCSI
Tuesday, September 28th, 2010We are pleased to announce that DevCSI, a project to support developers in Higher Education, has received funding for a further year’s work. The project is based at UKOLN and funded by JISC. This year the project will focus on organising more events for developers in Higher Education as well as carrying out research not only into the value that developers provide their institutions but also the role they play in innovation.
Registration for the 6th International Digital Curation Conference (IDCC) Now Open
Friday, September 3rd, 2010Registration is now open for this year’s International Digital Curation Conference (IDCC). It will take place over 6-8 December in Chicago. The theme of the 2010 conference is Participation and Practice: Growing the Curation Community through the Data Decade. Winners of the DevCSI Developer Challenge
Wednesday, July 14th, 2010The DevCSI Project is pleased to announce that we have a winner for the this year’s DevCSI-organised Developer Challenge at Open Repositories 2010 in Madrid. Congratulations go to Richard Davis and Rory McNicholl from the University of London Computer Centre (ULCC). Rory is a Digital Archive Technologist and Richard is the Repository Service Manager.
