Brian Kelly has been invited to give a 10-minute talk entitled “Content Creation: Web 2.0 Is Providing the Solution” for an online Webinar on the theme of Web 2.0 for content sharing for learning and teaching which will be held on 1 May 2007.

Maureen Pennock, DCC researcher at UKOLN, has been invited to speak at this year”s annual conference of the Records Management Society on the subject of managing and preserving e-mails. Her presentation, entitled “Scaling the e-mail mountain: a records manager”s guide to e-mail curation” is scheduled for the afternoon of Tuesday 1 May. The conference will take place at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Brighton from 30 April to 2 May.

Following much consultation during the course of last year, the Research Information Network (RIN) has drawn up a set of draft Principles for the Stewardship of Research Data to meet the challenge of managing the unprecedented quantities and varieties of digital data now being created. This is particularly relevant to the recent work UKOLN has been undertaking for the JISC to investigate the relationships between data centres and institutions which may develop data repositories.

Michael Day will be speaking at the DigiCCurr 2007 conference in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA, on the subject of “Cooperation for Digital Preservation and Curation: Collaboration for Collection Development in Instititutional Repository Networks”

Brian Kelly held a workshop and gave several presentations at the “Museums and the Web Conference” held in San Francisco on 11-13 April 2007.

Marieke Guy is giving a presentation on “Library 2.0 on a Shoestring: Cutting the Costs of your Investment” at the Library 2.0 Forum, part of the Library and Information Show to be held at the NEC,
Birmingham on Wednesday 18 April.

The CNI, DCC and NSF have announced that the 3rd International Digital Curation Conference will be held in Washington DC over 12-13 December 2007 following the Fall 2007 CNI Task Force meeting. The theme this year is “Curating our Digital Scientific Heritage: a Global Collaborative Challenge”. The conference will focus on emerging strategy, policy
implementation, leading-edge research and practitioner experience. It will comprise peer-reviewed papers, invited presentations and keynote international speakers.

UKOLN has a vacancy for a Research Officer to work on the SCARP Project. The post will be a part of the DCC Community Development Team led by UKOLN.
