Mini-workshop on data curation at UK e-Science All Hands Meeting
Wednesday, June 21st, 2006In a joint initiative with the eBank UK and SPECTRa projects, the Digital Curation Centre will deliver a workshop covering current best practice in data curation including examples of a pro-active approach and drawing upon the experience of chemistry and crystallography to illustrate user requirements, issues and barriers to implementation of curation methodologies.
UKOLN to host next quarterly CETIS MDR SIG meeting
Tuesday, June 20th, 2006The next quarterly meeting of the CETIS Metadata and Digital Repository Special Interest Group is to be hosted by UKOLN and will take place at the University of Bath on Tuesday 28 June. The meeting will include a presentation by Maureen Pennock of UKOLN on the Digital Curation Centre and the DCC Representation Information Registry.

DCC Technology Watch Paper on DSpace available

This is the first in a series of Technology Watch Papers which will offer a concise overview of existing and emerging technologies that can be selected to play a role in the curation and preservation of digital materials.

Briefing paper on file format registries now available
Monday, June 5th, 2006Representation information registries promise to make life much easier for those trying to interpret unfamiliar digital files. In his briefing paper, Alex Ball of UKOLN looks at a selection of existing file format and XML schema registries, as well as some of the more advanced registries currently being developed. This paper is one of a number of state-of-the-art reviews being written for the KIM Grand Challenge Project.
