Metadata Tools Workshop at JCDL 2006

A Call for Participation and Exhibitors is issued for the “Metadata Tools for Digital Resource Repositories Workshop” at the JCDL 2006 Conference, 15 June 2006, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA. The goal is to communicate challenges and solutions regarding specific digital library metadata tools and software. A range of issues including metadata creation, management, preservation, display and retrieval will be addressed through discussions and an exhibition of tools.

Digital Repositories Roadmap: Looking Forward

JISC has funded a Digital Repositories Roadmap document to present a vision for 2010. This has been undertaken by Rachel Heery from UKOLN and Andy Powell from the Eduserv Foundation. This is a discussion document that provides context for project and programme work.

UKOLN presentation at OSS Watch conference on Sustainability of Open Source Software

Brian Kelly gave a talk on “Synergies Between Open Standards and Open Source” at the OSS Watch conference held in Oxford over 10-12 April 2006. The talk outlined the approach UKOLN has developed for the use of open standards in JISC development programmes, and the parallels with use of open source software. Slides are available.
