The second Collection Description Briefing Day will be held on Tuesday 14th May 2002 at the British Library, London.

A joint seminar organised by the Library Association Cataloguing and Indexing Group and UKOLN. For staff involved in Access issues for Visually Impaired people as well as cataloguers and for the managers of both groups who can influence allocation of effort and resources. This event takes place during the Library and Information Show. Wednesday 26th June 2002, from 2pm to 4.30pm, at CILIP HQ, Ridgmount St, London.

Working with partners from Resource, CIMI, and the US Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the UKOLN Interoperability Focus is following up on a successful meeting in London last year by inviting forty senior representatives of Cultural Heritage sector digital content creation programmes to a two-day meeting in Washington, DC., beginning on 18 March. The meeting will explore the scope
for collaboration across borders in bringing examples of world Cultural Heritage to an international online audience.

UKOLN currently has a vacancy for a Resource Co-ordinator. The post is available on a maternity-leave cover basis for up to a year.

The third Collection Description Focus workshop is being held on Thursday 21 March 2002 at the Wolfson Suite, University of Edinburgh Library, Edinburgh. The workshop will concentrate on the issue of content standards and terminological control for collection-level description, with particular emphasis on the use of subject terminologies and thesauri.
