Two presentations on preservation of digital heritage

Michael Day of UKOLN spoke recently on the technical issues of digital preservation at a conference in Madrid entitled “Preservation of Digital Heritage: Basic Concepts and Main Initiatives” organised by the libraries sub-directorate of the Spanish Ministry of Culture. During the conference he also gave a seminar on OAIS applications in digital preservation projects. Slides for both are now available.

LUCAS event on Preserving Digital Archives

Maureen Pennock of UKOLN will be speaking at a one-day event organised by the Liverpool University Centre for Archive Studies (LUCAS)
entitled “Preserving Digital Archives”. The event is designed for professionals focusing on the technological, financial, legal, and organisational challenges faced by repositories receiving digital deposits and takes place on Wednesday 22 March 2006.

Funding for EnrichUK confirmed

The Big Lottery Fund has recently signed an agreement with MLA to ensure the future development of the searchable portal developed in collaboration with UKOLN which also advised participating projects through its co-operation with AHDS in the NOF-digi Technical Advisory Service.
