JISC-PoWR Launches Its First Workshop

The workshop, entitled “Preservation of Web Resources: Making a Start”, considered how delegates could set about including Web resources in their wider preservation strategy. E-Journals Access and Management

electronic journals. Edited by Wayne Jones of Queen”s University of Kingston,
Ontario, the book takes a comprehensive look at how e-journals have changed the library landscape and offers information professionals strategies to improve the management of such publications. Michael Day, team leader of UKOLN Research & Development, has contributed a chapter on preserving the digital outputs of scholarly communication.

recently published by Routledge entitled “E-Journals Access and Management”.
German Commission for UNESCO Encourages Debate on Scientific Publishing

on Open Access. The handbook, entitled “Open Access Opportunities and Challenges – A Handbook” intends to inform stakeholders and society in general of the opportunities and challenges surrounding open access, and to promote a broad and inclusive debate on the future of scientific publishing in the European Research Area. This English version is a joint publication with the European Commission”s Science in Society Programme.

Dealing with Data One Year On

A year after the publication of the Dealing with Data Report, Liz brought the workshop up to date with a brief look at the changing landscape, a review of UK progress on data issues as well as a consideration of some new challenges and
opportunities in this area. Her presentation is now available.
