The project, led by UKOLN, will develop a second generation of the SWORD deposit protocol that will enable it to encompass a wider set of systems within the scholarly communication infrastructure, and to allow active management of artefacts as they change throughout their lifetime. The e-conference is hosted by the Agricultural Learning Repositories Task Force (AgLR-TF) and the e-Agriculture Community. As part of her work with the Metadata Forum, Stephanie will be joint moderator, along with Jackie Wickham of the Repository Support Project (RSP), of two discussions about the use of metadata in learning repositories. The e-conference is open to anyone with an interest in this area. Details on how to join in and further information on the topics to be discussed are available.

The article explored “the world of academics’ personal websites“. Brian made the point that “universities may lose access to material, such as posted lecture notes, if academics are operating outside the university domain. But then again, if IT services cannot cater for academics who want to manage their personal page in a more hands-on style, an exit from the university sphere might make sense.
