DCC NE England Data Management Roadshow

This is the last opportunity to register for this free DCC event taking place over 23 – 24 April 2012 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Registration will close at 2pm, Thursday 19 April.

The Roadshow is co-organised with Professor Julie McLeod, Northumbria University School of Computing, Engineering, and Information Sciences. Its programme includes an interesting range of speakers who will share examples of developing research data management services and infrastructure.

Day 1 will be a general introduction and is open to all. Best practice will be shared through case studies to help build a community of data management expertise in the North-East of England. Day 2 is a strategic training day for research support staff. The workshop provides an introduction to curation and DCC tools so you can start to plan research data management services for your institution.

Each day can be booked individually. The event will take place in the Darwin Suite, 3rd Floor Bioscience Centre, Times Square, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, NE1 4EP. A a full programme is available.

IWMW 2012 Open for Bookings

Spaces Available at DCC Belfast and London Roadshows

The Digital Curation Centre is running a series of regional roadshows to support HEIs in their research data management. Registration is open for two more DCC data management roadshows.

The London roadshow is being organised in conjunction with the Library Services at Imperial College London and will take place on 21 – 22 May 2012 at 58 Prince’s Gate, Imperial College London.

The Northern Ireland roadshow is being organised in conjunction with Queen’s University Belfast and will take place on 6 – 7 June 2012 at the Auditorium, McClay Library, Queen’s University, Belfast.

Last Chance: Northwest England DCC Roadshow

Registration for the free DCC Roadshow on Data Management to be held in the Northwest of England over 20-21 March 2012 will close soon. The Roadshow is organised with The Library, University of Salford and will take place at the Clifford Whitworth Building, University of Salford.

DCC Roadshows are designed to support every institution in the UK to prepare for effective research data management and to understand more about how the Digital Curation Centre can help. Further information about the DCC Roadshows is available from the DCC Web site.

Dev8D 2012

Applications for Dev8D 2012 are coming close to capacity , but there are still a few places left. So, if you want to come, you will need to make your booking now.

The Importance of CERIF to UK HEIs

Community Capability Model Framework for Data-Intensive Research Review Workshop: Melbourne

Call for Proposals: IWMW 2012

UKOLN has announced a Call for Proposals for this year’s Institutional Web Management Workshop (IWMW 2012), to be held in Edinburgh from 18 to 20 June 2012.  This annual event, designed for everyone managing and developing institutional Web services, will address a broad range of topics related to this year’s theme of ‘Embedding Innovation’. Call for Submissions to IWMW 2012

UKOLN’s Institutional Web Management Workshop 2012 event will be held at the University of Edinburgh over 18-20 June 2012. IWMW, designed for practitioners involved in the provision of institutional Web services, has been running for 15 years and is the main event for those with responsibilities for managing, maintaining and developing a range of online services based on Web technologies.

The call for submissions, including proposals for plenary talks and workshop sessions, together with other ideas (panel sessions, debates, etc.) is now available.

CERIF Meetings in Bath

UKOLN is hosting a series of meetings based on CERIF, the Common European Research Information Format, in co-operation with euroCRIS and JISC. The first is a CERIF tutorial and UK data surgery, to be held on 9 February 2012, followed by euroCRIS task group meetings on 10 February, both in the city of Bath. Participation is open, and all those involved in research information management are strongly encouraged to take the opportunity to strengthen their understanding of CERIF and explore real-life data scenarios, as well as to contribute UK experience to related euroCRIS task groups.
