Vacancy for a Research Officer

UKOLN has a vacancy for a Research Officer (Text Digitisation). The post holder will be a major part of UKOLN’s contribution to the IMPACT (Improving Access to Text) Project, and would be responsible for the specification and provision of high-quality documentation on text digitisation topics and an integrated training programme. The closing date for applications is 17 January 2010.

Serving Digital Citizens

Liz Lyon, Director of UKOLN, spoke recently at the MLA/LGA Conference on modernisation of public library services entitled 1964 and all that: modernising your public library service. In the session on The Digital Future for Libraries Liz gave a short talk entitled Serving Digital Citizens: Public Libraries in the 21stC?. Slides from her talk are now available.

UKOLN has just published – on behalf of the Digital Curation Centre – Issue 3, Volume 4 of the International Journal of Digital Curation. This issue features nine peer-reviewed papers and three general articles.

Dame Lynne Brindley, Chief Executive of the British Library and Dr Liz Lyon, Director of UKOLN, have been invited to speak at the MLA/LGA Conference on modernisation of public library services. Lynne Brindley and Liz Lyon will provide a session entitled The Digital Future for Libraries.
